The 2 Hour Side Hustle

It’s the age of the side hustle

It’s the age of the side hustle. And while people will turn to it for different reasons, the core motivation is the same. You want more money. Lucky enough, you live in a time where it has never been easier to earn a little extra on the side.

You also happen to live in a time where the days just seem to fly a little faster than they used to. It makes sense, then, that as you travel further down the path of adulthood, you realize just how sacred your time and presence is.

As you fold more obligations into smaller and smaller spaces, you have to be selective of what you give attention to. So how can you possibly focus on something else within a never ending blur of responsibilities, even if it will benefit you?

With a little planning and intention, you can make the hands of the clock pack some serious punch!

Create Your Own Hours

There’s nothing more rewarding than being able to decide how exactly your new side hustle will fit into your world. Determine how much time you want to allocate to your new business on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Then think of spaces in your day where you have the capacity to add more. Are you an early riser who is most energetic in the morning? Or maybe you’re a night owl whose productivity peaks later in the day.

You should consider your own habits and obligations to decide what aligns best. You should also determine what features of a side hustle are most important to you. Certain side hustles may provide you with a greater degree of flexibility than others. So if flexibility is important to you, you’ll want to consider it in your selection process.

Once you’ve done your personal due diligence, you can move forward in your quest. Consider what you already bring to the table when choosing product or service offerings. Decide whether it interests you to start with something familiar or embark down an entirely new path.

Use What You’ve Got

Think of a service you provide in your profession that you can extend past office hours. This is the easiest way to get started with a side gig. Use skills you’ve already mastered to help someone who needs what you can offer.

Alternatively, you can also choose to work with well known gig economy apps that provide ride-sharing services, food delivery, and more as a neatly packaged option to help you start earning more fast!

Turn Passion Into Payment

You probably have at least one thing in your life that you wish you could make more time for – some hobby you’ve picked up over the years. What could entice you to find more time?

Perhaps what you’ve been looking for is a stronger incentive (ka-ching!). Try turning that hobby into a source of income. There’s nothing better to hold you accountable than people waiting for you to deliver. You can even offer discounted prices as you work through the kinks of your new business and develop your skills.

Embrace the Unknown

If you’re feeling called to venture into unfamiliar territory, think of what you would like to experience in this new endeavor. Are you interested in work that makes use of your hands, empowers self expression, or inspires an active lifestyle?

Think of who would you like to help? Would it be more rewarding for you to provide support to local business owners, working dog parents, or traveling professionals?

Once you’ve done the legwork, don’t overthink it. Start small, start anywhere and build overtime.
